So you’ve booked a trip to New York, but where will you sleep? If you’re lucky, you get to enjoy the luxury of the Ritz-Carlton hotel but just in case that’s a bit out of your price range there are still a lot of lovely, more affordable options out there. The Ace Hotel, located in Midtown Manhattan, is really the hipster place-to-be. Parkas are the uniform and cute, alternative men and women are the people at your (hotel) service. This place scores some serious points when it comes to originality, location and funny attention to details but most importantly it doesn’t lack in the basic qualities you expect from a hotel – in fact, it does far better than that.
Comfortable beds? Check. Good shower? Check. Fast and free WiFi? Check. Three of my personal must-haves, but the lovely Rudy’s Brand shower-products and general look-and-feel of the hotel makes your stay at the Ace, you know, really ace. Staying here isn’t particularly cheap, but look on the bright side – you can mingle with the cool New York crowd in the lobby, have your first shot of caffeine at Stumptown Coffee right next door or indulge in something meaty at The Breslin (there’s also on oyster bar right right next to the hotel, which I did not try since I don’t particularly enjoy slippery food). Since 23 dollars for breakfast seemed a bit much each morning, we just found something more affordable and equally okay around the corner. Plenty of options, lots of hipness!
