Hoi An is a destination that’s pretty easy to love. Yes – it’s touristic without a doubt (and it can certainly get crowded at times), but there’s just something about it that will make you fall in love with it instantly. The picturesque streets, old buildings, great food and of course colorful lanterns are basically a win-win situation. We stayed close to the center, which meant we could easily walk there or take the bike. It was pretty perfect, since it meant cheaper accomodation and cheaper food options – even though the cost of traveling in Vietnam in general will rarely break the bank – but we preferred it that way since it meant more money to spend on shopping! I can state for a fact that Hoi An is the shopping destination to be in Vietnam, with so many fun shops to choose from. These earrings and bag (two of my favorite buys) were bought here, as was this dress. Hoi An is famous for its tailor shops, so I decided to have a dress made here as well. To be honest, I got a little overwhelmed by the offer (there are a gazillion stores and fabrics to choose from) and the rather pushy Vietnamese way of selling things so I just went for this option simply because I didn’t want to spend any more time on comparing fabrics, stores and prices after a while. If that’s your thing, you can have a lot of fun here though! We spent five nights in Hoi An, because we really needed some time to chill out a bit and enjoy the surroundings after quite an intense period of traveling around. It was a fun stay, and I loved that we had all that time to enjoy all the little things that beautiful Hoi An had to offer.
