Ahh, vacation bliss. As we’re slowly sliding into fall, it’s almost hard to remember the summer days when it was almost too hot to even wear clothes. After three months of summer in Southeast Asia, the long heatwave in Belgium and the summer in Spain on top of that – I think my body & mind is really ready for cooler temperatures now. Who would’ve thought? I guess too many days of bading in your own sweat will make you long for fall after all. These pictures were taken in Alicante, during a visit of the castle of Santa Barbara. Looking back at our roadtrip, I would definitely skip and pick a couple of other destinations as the ones we did. I have to admit I was suffering a bit from “travel planning fatigue” and hence didn’t (want to) put as much time into thinking about where we’d go this time. Of course, afterwards that did lead to me regretting some of the choices made (yes – I find the way my brain works pretty exhausting too). In conclusion: even though Spain is beautiful (and cheap), we spent too much time exploring cities and should’ve picked some more picturesque places near the coast too. Alicante wasn’t really our cup of tea either, it lacked a lot of charm in my opinion. But on the plus side? This castle is worth a visit (it’s free!) to admire the pretty view but I do suggest to take the lift to get there. Trust me, your legs will thank you later!
