When you go to a city like Paris, London or New York, you almost instantly fall in love – kind of cliche, but true. Cologne plays a little harder to get, but it manages to surprise you every now and then. It didn’t manage to sweep me off my feet like other places in the world have done, but I can’t deny it has a certain charm, especially in the Belgisches Viertel (and I’m not just saying that because I’m from Belgium). When you walk around you sometimes get the feeling you’re seeing little parts of other cities, all blended into one. I’m always a fan of discovering new places and spaces, so I’ll leave you with my last Cologne snapshots whilst I’m already looking forward to my next trip overseas!

I never used to be the girl who was all about pink, but lately it seems like I’ve been more drawn to Barbie’s favorite color for some unknown reason. Not that you’ll see me wearing an all pink outfit anytime soon, but I appreciate it in its softer, cotton-candy like version for a piece of clothing or two. Lately, I’ve been kind of bored with everything in my closet – nothing out of the ordinary, I’m sure all you ladies understand what that’s all about – but I’m quite pleased with these pretty nude heels. Nothing like some new pumps to make any outfit just a tad more sexy (even though I may have died just a little this weekend wearing a pair of heels at a party). Some things will never change.

When I was little, I had this breezy yellow summer dress with big sunflowers on it. It was my absolute favorite and I have this vague memory of running around with it when we were on vacation, having the best time. When I spotted this daisy dress in Cologne, it immediately reminded me of that sunflower dress I cherished so much as a child. Since I’m still a kid at heart and it wasn’t expensive at all, I bought it and wore it the next day. And yes, it gives me the same happy kind of feeling that other dress used to give me – I have a feeling this might become a new summer favorite!

If I wanted to go to Cologne for the weekend, they asked. Mais oui – I mean, jawohl! German is not my favorite language, but I at least like to pretend I speak it fluently. Just add some German flavor to your Dutch and the job is done! Cologne isn’t the most typical place one would go to for a city trip, nonetheless I’ve been there a few times for the festival called Summerjam – where I’ve had many awesome times. This time the trip also involved a festival, but one that revolved around fashion and design – also known as Le Bloc.

Our hotel (the Hopper hotel, a former monastery) was located in the Belgian neighborhood, where Le Bloc took place. Didn’t spot any Belgians, did see a lot of street names similar to ours. Alright, back to Le Bloc party. Imagine a super-cozy neighborhood, streets filled with hipsters and handsome Germans, music and a lot of cool shops and you get a pretty good idea of what this fashion and design festival is about. I instantly fell in love with a denim-aztec-neon Maison Scotch jacket at Boutique Belgique but I ignored my shopping voice for once and decided to leave it in Cologne. After discovering the shops we enjoyed the drinks, the food and German vibe – which can be described as chill, fun and cheap. Conclusion: there’s no place like Cologne for a Bloc party!

No boys and girls, I didn’t go on a crazy shopping spree and purchased another pair of the Isabel Marant Bobby sneakers – but I did steal them for a while from my friend Afrodite, who has these beautiful babies in red. I figured they completed this outfit, hence shooting it had to be done. If I look utterly relaxed in these pictures, it’s because I just got back from a day of wellness treatment – so everything was zen and beautiful in my mind, especially since the sun was shining so bright. You know, if I’d ever be crazy enough to buy a second pair of these – I’d go for the white ones. Perfect for summer, no?
